My Predictions for the Next Smash Bros Character! (Blog 7)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is an unbelievable game. It’s a culmination of some of the biggest video game characters of all time in one crossover fighting game. Beginning with iconic characters like Mario, Link, Samus, and Pikachu, the Smash Bros. series has expanded to include all aspects of Nintendo, and has even brought in guest characters from other game developers outside of Nintendo, like Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man. As of last week, the latest character to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Steve from Minecraft.

Ultimate now has a grand total of 77 distinct characters to choose from, and four more characters are guaranteed to join as part of the second Fighters Pass. So, who’s left to choose from? Well, there are a few options that I can see happening.

Master Chief- Banjo-Kazooie and Steve are both representatives of Microsoft. The fact that they have two representatives in a Nintendo fighting game is crazy, but a third rep isn’t crazy enough. Master Chief is the face of Xbox, and his inclusion in Smash would signal the ultimate friendship that Nintendo and Microsoft have had in recent months.

Editor’s Note: Master Chief is my most wanted character in Smash Bros. So I may be a bit biased!

Geno- While Geno is an older character that only appeared in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Silver Stars, his demand in Smash is too high to ignore. People have wanted Geno in Smash Bros since 15 years ago in Brawl. He is *technically* owned by Square Enix, however, and while they have both Cloud and Hero in Smash, getting them to agree to a third character in the game isn’t assured.

Crash Bandicoot- In a game where some of the biggest icons from both Nintendo and Microsoft exist, there’s essentially no real representative from Sony and their PlayStation. Crash began as the mascot of the PlayStation, and has slowly made his presence known in both Nintendo and Xbox consoles. He’s essentially a legacy character that would fit right in with other iconic mascots like Mario, Sonic, and Banjo.

Rayman- Similar to Crash, Rayman has been a mascot of Ubisoft for as long as they’ve been around. However, I feel like Rayman is even more due than anyone else because of how he’s been shafted in previous games, where he was either a collectible trophy or a spirit instead of a playable fighter, with no real reason why. I think it’s time that Rayman has an actual reason to be in Smash Bros, and him being a playable character is the only way it’s going to happen.

It’s hard to complain about the roster of smash Ultimate, because there’s already an incredible selection of characters to choose from. But with four characters still coming to the game, I would like to see these four being the ones chosen. I feel they would make the majority of fans satisfied, and in a game that’s known for its fan-service, appealing to all kinds of fans is the norm for Smash.
